TYLER, Texas — A Gilmer man is in custody following his arrest for continuous sexual abuse of a child, according to Smith County judicial records.
Nathaniel Amerson, 48, was taken into custody on August 8 by the Smith County Sheriff’s Office and is currently being held in the Smith County Jail without bond.
This is not Amerson’s first encounter with the law regarding similar charges. In April 2024, he was previously arrested by the Longview Police Department on a warrant out of Upshur County for aggravated sexual assault of a child.
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities have not released further details about the case.
