SELINSGROVE, Pa. — Two men were arrested after allegedly stealing over $400 worth of jewelry from the Selinsgrove Hobby Lobby, thanks to a social media post that helped police identify them.
Nathan Alan Neidig, 40, of Shamokin, and Drew William Hunt, 37, of Sunbury, face theft charges related to incidents on March 18 and 19.
Trooper Melvin L. Eby of PSP Selinsgrove investigated after the store’s corporate office flagged suspicious surveillance video. The footage showed Neidig and Hunt stealing jewelry without making any purchases. The total stolen merchandise was valued at $406.
On April 17, a video from the surveillance cameras was posted on the PSP Tips Facebook page, prompting multiple tips that identified Neidig and Hunt as the suspects.
According to court documents, on March 18, Hunt was seen taking jewelry items multiple times from the display while Neidig concealed items in a backpack. The following day, both returned and Neidig again took multiple jewelry items before leaving together without paying.
Hunt faces misdemeanor retail theft charges, while Neidig was charged with felony retail theft. Neidig’s bail was set at $5,000 unsecured. Court records show he has prior robbery and theft charges from 2018 in Dauphin and Northumberland counties.
