Nathan Javonte Chambers, a 27-year-old bail bondsman from Mount Pleasant, North Carolina, has been arrested on charges of embezzlement and conversion by a bailee. Chambers, who operates under 123 Bail Bonding, is accused of misappropriating $200,000 from a client, according to the North Carolina Department of Insurance’s Criminal Investigations Division.
Authorities allege that Chambers convinced a client to invest $200,000 under the false promise that the funds would be returned once their criminal charges were dismissed. The client initially sought 123 Bail Bonding to post a $25,000 bond in Mecklenburg County on June 23, 2023. Just three days later, on June 26, 2023, Chambers reportedly persuaded them to hand over the additional funds. However, even after the client’s charges were dropped, the money was never returned.
Following an investigation, an arrest warrant was issued, leading to Chambers’ arrest on January 20, 2025. He was booked with a $5,000 bond but has since been released. The case remains under investigation.
