The main accused in the Liladhar Colony murder case, Naseem alias Banne Khan, was arrested by Chhola police from Betul district. Naseem allegedly shot and killed 22-year-old Amit Verma during a violent altercation that took place shortly after midnight on June 30.
Naseem was brought back to Bhopal from Betul, but attempted to escape police custody three times. During one escape attempt, he jumped from a rooftop, fracturing his leg. Despite his injury, he was presented before the court and remanded to three-day police custody for further interrogation.
On the night of June 30, Naseem and his accomplices, including Wasim and three others, arrived in Liladhar Colony on two motorcycles. A violent confrontation ensued between them and Raja Khatik with his associates. During the clash, Naseem fired three rounds from a country-made pistol—two bullets struck Amit Verma, who later succumbed to his injuries, while one round misfired.
Police investigations revealed that Naseem, Wasim, and Raja Khatik had previously worked together in robbery cases. The conflict stemmed from a dispute over loot money between Raja and Nadeem, Wasim’s brother. After Raja physically assaulted Nadeem, Naseem and his gang sought revenge by targeting Raja. However, Amit Verma was fatally caught in the gunfire.
Witnesses also reported seeing the accused brandishing swords and arguing with pedestrians on VIP Road prior to the incident.
Bhopal Police Commissioner Harinarayanachari Mishra had announced a Rs 30,000 reward for information leading to Naseem’s arrest. Following intensive efforts by teams from the Crime Branch and Zone-4, Naseem was finally captured in Betul.
