The Nallalam police on Sunday, May 11, 2025, arrested Naseedul Sheikh, a key accused in a human trafficking case, nearly five months after he escaped custody.
Sheikh, who had been on the run since October 2023, allegedly kidnapped a 15-year-old girl from Kozhikode by luring her into a relationship. He later sold her to a man in Haryana for Rs25,000. The girl’s family, who lived in Kozhikode at the time, lodged a complaint that led to his initial arrest.
However, while being transported by train to Kozhikode, Sheikh escaped in Bihar by jumping off the train. A manhunt followed, and he was finally apprehended in Assam.
Sheikh has now been remanded in custody, and investigations are underway to trace others involved in the trafficking network.
