In a shocking incident near Bhavanisagar in Erode district, a 38-year-old man, M Nallasamy, allegedly murdered his friend K Chandran (35) after discovering him with his wife. Chandran, a JCB operator from Kolathur near Mettur in Salem district, was killed early Friday morning at Nallasamy’s residence.
Both men had previously served time in prison for a 2017 double murder case. Chandran had been released 11 months ago, while Nallasamy was released in July. After his release, Chandran reportedly began an affair with Nallasamy’s 32-year-old wife, Sinthamani.
Police stated that on Thursday night, Chandran spent the night at Nallasamy’s home with Sinthamani. When Nallasamy returned, he confronted them and struck Chandran’s head with a boulder, killing him instantly.
Nallasamy surrendered early Friday to Suresh Babu, the village administrative officer, who handed him over to Bhavanisagar police. He was subsequently remanded in judicial custody and lodged at Coimbatore central prison.
Chandran’s body was recovered and sent to the government hospital in Sathyamangalam for postmortem. Authorities continue to investigate the case.
