The Special Vigilance Unit (SVU) conducted raids on the residence and office of Nalanda District Transport Officer (DTO) Anil Kumar Das on Friday, uncovering jewellery worth Rs 1 crore and property documents valued at Rs 1.5 crore.
Das, a government officer with 15 years of service, is accused of amassing wealth disproportionate to his income. A case has been registered against him for acquiring Rs 95 lakh in ill-gotten assets. This follows a trend in the state, where more than five government officials have faced similar action this year.
Raids were conducted at Das’s office and residence in Biharsharif, as well as at flats and houses in Rupaspur and Dhanaut areas of Patna. The vigilance team reportedly found multiple properties in Patna registered in his wife’s name, along with bank accounts and fixed deposits.
ADG of SVU, Pankaj Darad, stated, “Properties and investments worth several times the DTO’s official income were discovered. The investigation is ongoing to trace all assets and confirm the extent of the disproportionate wealth.”
