Police from the Narcotics Suppression Bureau (NSB) have arrested two drug couriers in Nakhon Pathom and seized 3 million methamphetamine pills in a major drug bust. The suspects, identified as 32-year-old Katakorn and 27-year-old Supattra, were detained during a raid on a house in Muang Nakhon Pathom district on Sunday evening.
The couple was found with seven fertiliser bags containing the 3 million yaba pills. Authorities also seized a pickup truck and three mobile phones from the suspects.
Pol Lt Gen Santi Chainiramai, NSB chief, stated that the arrest followed an earlier drug bust in Ayutthaya on November 9, where 5 million meth pills were confiscated. The investigation into that case led authorities to a drug network operating in Nakhon Pathom, smuggling methamphetamine into Thailand from the northeastern border.
A tip-off on Saturday indicated that millions of meth pills were being smuggled into Nakhon Pathom, which led to the arrest of Katakorn and Supattra. According to the NSB chief, the couple had made several delivery trips, earning between 50,000 and 100,000 baht per trip. They would collect the drugs in Saraburi province, store them in Nakhon Pathom, and later distribute the methamphetamine to nearby provinces.
Investigations are ongoing to identify the individuals who hired the couple and to dismantle the broader drug network.
