BRAMPTON, ON – A 24-year-old man, Nahom Teklahaymanot, has been arrested and charged with multiple human trafficking offences following a police investigation that led to the rescue of a missing youth in Brampton.
According to a release from Peel Regional Police, the arrest occurred on September 10, 2025, outside a rental property after a tip from Longueuil police. The tip involved a missing girl suspected to be a victim of sexual exploitation in Peel Region.
Police say the girl was later located at another location and has been safely reunited with her family.
Teklahaymanot now faces nine charges, including:
Trafficking in persons under 18
Procuring a person under 18
Advertising sexual services
Communicating for the purpose of obtaining sexual services
Exercising control
Receiving material benefit from trafficking
Use of an imitation firearm during the commission of an offence
He remains in custody and is scheduled for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.
Investigators believe additional victims may exist in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), Montreal, and Longueuil, and urge anyone with information to come forward.
Peel Police emphasized that their Human Trafficking Unit is actively working to protect vulnerable individuals and disrupt trafficking networks.
