In a significant development in the fight against the illegal liquor trade, Naharlagun Police have apprehended Gitupon Gogoi, a resident of Assam, for his involvement in the manufacturing and distribution of counterfeit alcohol. Gogoi, arrested on April 7, 2025, is accused of producing and selling adulterated liquor using fake trademarks and branding, violating the Arunachal Pradesh Excise Act, 1993.

Acting on credible intelligence, the police conducted a raid at Gogoi’s premises, where they recovered numerous empty liquor bottles and forged labels of popular alcohol brands. The authorities confirmed the arrest of Gogoi and stated that an in-depth investigation is underway to uncover the full extent of the distribution network and identify any potential collaborators.

This operation highlights the ongoing efforts by the Naharlagun Police to curb illegal activities in the region, including the manufacturing and sale of counterfeit products that pose significant health and safety risks to consumers.
