The Crime Branch of Nagpur Police has successfully apprehended three bike thieves and detained a minor following a series of vehicle thefts across the city. The operation led to the recovery of 10 stolen two-wheelers valued at nearly Rs4.8 lakh.
The case began after Mohammad Imran Mohammad Akram Ansari, a 32-year-old resident of Yashodharanagar, filed a complaint reporting the theft of his motorcycle from the parking lot of a convention centre on Kalamna Road.
Acting swiftly on intelligence, the Anti-Vehicle Theft Squad arrested Mohammad Atiq Mohammad Khaliq (40) from Mominpura. Upon interrogation, Atiq admitted to stealing the complainant’s motorcycle and confessed to six other thefts across areas including Hudkeshwar, Dhantoli, Sakkardara, Mankapur, and Lakadganj police jurisdictions.
Atiq’s statements led to the arrest of two more suspects, Abdul Javed Abdul Razzaq (46) and Imran Ahmed Nisar Ahmed (40), both also from Mominpura. The trio had sold several stolen vehicles, with seven two-wheelers recovered from them.
Separately, the Koradi Police Station detained a minor accused of stealing one vehicle in Koradi and two more from Hudkeshwar and Sitabuldi. Police recovered all three stolen vehicles.
