In a swift and decisive operation, Nagaur Police have busted a honey trap gang, arresting three accused—including a woman—for blackmailing a man using an obscene video. The gang had already extorted ₹4 lakh and was demanding an additional Rs50 lakh.
The operation was carried out under the supervision of SP Mridul Kachhawa and field leadership of Kotwali SHO Vedpal Viran. The case stems from an incident that occurred nearly 20–25 days ago, following a complaint filed by Vinod Sankhla (44), a resident of Housing Board.
According to the FIR, the accused offered the victim a cold drink laced with intoxicants, rendering him unconscious. During this time, they secretly recorded an obscene video. Weeks later, the gang contacted the victim, threatening to make the video public unless he paid a hefty sum. The victim had already paid Rs4 lakh under duress, while the gang later demanded Rs50 lakh more.
The Kotwali Police acted promptly, registering a case under sections related to organized criminal activity. Following a swift investigation, the accused were arrested from Nagaur town:
Mahendra Mali (27), son of Shaitanram, resident of Bagnada, Moondwa Police Station
Harendra Mali (30), son of Pannalal, resident of Atusar Bas, Kotwali Police Station
Aarti Sharma alias Pooja (20), wife of Vikas, resident of Gangashahar Bazaar, Bikaner
Police have urged the public to stay vigilant against honey trap gangs and warned citizens to report suspicious activity. Interrogation of the arrested suspects is ongoing, with authorities expecting to uncover additional links and networks associated with the gang.
