n a major breakthrough, Bhopal Crime Branch has arrested Nabeel Siddiqui, a fraudster who allegedly cheated over 80 unemployed youths by offering fake telecaller jobs in the name of Amazon.
Siddiqui, a resident of the Taliya area in Bhopal, previously worked as a telecaller at Amazon’s Pune office. Leveraging his past job experience, he created a fake Amazon email ID and issued counterfeit job joining letters to dupe aspirants.
During interrogation, it was revealed that Nabeel lured candidates by claiming batch-wise hiring. Starting with 30 candidates and increasing the number to 100, he collected money from victims under the pretense of securing employment. Victims were told that job confirmations would only occur once a minimum number of applicants was reached—an excuse used to stall and extract more money.
Suspicion arose when job offers kept getting delayed. Some applicants reached out to Amazon for verification and discovered the offers were fake, prompting them to alert police. Nabeel had been absconding for nearly a year before being tracked down and arrested.
Authorities are now investigating whether Nabeel acted alone or operated as part of a larger fraud network. Officials are also mapping his movements during his time in hiding and identifying possible collaborators.
The investigation is ongoing.
