In a swift crackdown on human trafficking, Nabarangpur police arrested four individuals, including a woman, for allegedly trafficking three minor girls from Gotibeda village under the Kodiga police station jurisdiction. The case surfaced after a relative of the victims filed a complaint with the local police.
Following the complaint, the Superintendent of Police (SP) of Nabarangpur formed a special team. Acting on credible intelligence, the team successfully rescued the minors from Tripura, where they had been taken under false pretenses.
At a press briefing, SDPO Krushnachandra Bhatra disclosed that the minors were enticed with promises and transported across state lines. The accused were identified as Pratap Harijan (Pakanaguda), Khagapati Jani (Gotibeda), Mitula Jani alias Baidi (Atigaon), and Bikash Nayak (Kamta).
All four accused were produced in court post-arrest. Authorities continue their investigations to unravel the full trafficking network.
