MOUNTAIN VIEW (KGO) — Four individuals have been arrested in connection with an attempted catalytic converter theft and other criminal activities in Mountain View.
At around 4 a.m. on August 18, Mountain View Police responded to reports of a neighbor chasing someone away from their home. Officers were directed toward a Toyota Camry that had fled the scene after the confrontation. Upon locating a similar vehicle near Emily Court, police initiated a felony stop and arrested 21-year-old Na Xiong of Merced, who was identified as the person seen running from the resident.
A search of Xiong’s vehicle revealed a stolen handgun, methamphetamine, and drug paraphernalia.
Further investigation led officers to the Ramada Inn on Fairchild Drive, where several individuals were seen going in and out of rooms. Officers observed one of them attempting to hide a glass pipe and other items. Upon further search, officers discovered evidence of counterfeiting, including a photocopy machine, as well as burglary tools, methamphetamine, and drug paraphernalia.
The three other suspects were arrested at the motel: 26-year-old Touta Xiong, 35-year-old An Lee, and 35-year-old Bill Chang, all from Merced. They now face charges related to forgery, counterfeiting, burglary tools possession, methamphetamine possession, drug paraphernalia possession, and attempted grand theft.
Lt. Armando Espitia praised the patrol team for their swift and coordinated efforts in apprehending the suspects. “Their awareness and ability to quickly connect multiple incidents led to the apprehension of these suspects and will help keep our community safe,” Espitia said.
