MYRTLE BEACH, SC — The owner of Cafe Vincenzo’s, an Italian restaurant in Myrtle Beach, faces charges after an undercover investigation revealed illegal alcohol sales.

The City of Myrtle Beach Business License Division requested the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) to investigate 43-year-old Genci Cake and his restaurant, located off North Kings Highway near 77th Avenue North.

Despite lacking a valid alcohol license, Cafe Vincenzo’s sold beer and liquor to an undercover agent on July 7, according to arrest warrants. Further investigation uncovered liquor stored throughout the restaurant’s second floor intended for sale.

Cake was charged with failure to secure a required beer or wine sale permit, unlawful sale of alcoholic liquors (first offense), and unlawful storage or possession of alcoholic liquors in a place of business (first offense).

Records show Cafe Vincenzo’s renewed its 7-day on-premises beer and wine permit and a liquor-by-the-drink license on July 11, four days after the sting.

Cake posted a $3,000 bond the day of his arrest and was released.
