LOS ANGELES, CA — Federal authorities have arrested Eugene Henley Jr., also known as “Big U”, a music executive and alleged gang leader, accusing him of running a mafia-style criminal enterprise in South Los Angeles.
Henley, 58, has been charged with conspiracy under the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act, with allegations of murder, extortion, human trafficking, and fraud.
Authorities claim Big U, a self-proclaimed anti-gang activist, used his influence within the Rollin’ 60s street gang to orchestrate violent and illegal activities, including the 2021 murder of an aspiring rapper.
Other Arrests & Charges
Henley was arrested Wednesday, along with:
Sylvester “Vey” Robinson (59) – Conspiracy under RICO
Mark “Bear Claw” Martin (50) – Conspiracy under RICO
Bryan Perez Mejia – Initially a fugitive, later surrendered
10 additional Rollin’ 60s members and associates – Facing federal charges for drug trafficking, racketeering conspiracy, and firearms offenses
DOJ’s Response
Acting U.S. Attorney Joseph McNally condemned Henley’s alleged criminal leadership:
“This was a violent street criminal masquerading as an anti-gang activist. His actions endangered our communities, and today’s charges will help make Los Angeles safer.”
Federal officials have prioritized dismantling gangs and organized crime through this sweeping indictment.
