Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara announced on Tuesday, 21 January, that police have arrested three suspects involved in a major bank robbery in Mangaluru.
The suspects were caught near Tirunelveli in Tamil Nadu. Those arrested include Murugandi Thevar (36), believed to be the mastermind, along with Manivannan (36) and Joshua Rajendran alias Prakash (35).
Police recovered approximately Rs4 crore in cash and 4 kg of gold jewellery from the accused. The gang reportedly travelled from Mumbai to Mangaluru to carry out the heist, and fled to Tamil Nadu with an estimated 12 kg of gold and significant cash.
Speaking to reporters, Parameshwara confirmed that the arrested individuals are from Tamil Nadu and Kerala. Interrogations are ongoing to locate the remaining suspects.
The Home Minister also revealed developments in a separate ATM robbery case in Bidar, stating that suspects involved in that incident are believed to be in Uttar Pradesh.
