GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) – A man wanted for murder in Florida has been apprehended in Colorado following a multi-agency investigation. Aldo Armijos-Castillo, 32, was arrested Wednesday after a traffic accident led to the discovery of his whereabouts on U.S. Interstate 70.
Armijos-Castillo was a fugitive from Manatee County, Florida, where he allegedly committed a home invasion that ended in the death of a man on December 26, 2024. Following the tragic incident, a warrant for his arrest was issued on January 6, 2025.
The U.S. Marshals Service’s Colorado Violent Offender Task Force (COVOTF) collaborated with law enforcement in Florida after learning that Armijos-Castillo had fled to California. A lead revealed that he was traveling by bus, prompting the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to coordinate with the Vail Police Department.
On the morning of his arrest, the Vail Police Department, aided by their SWAT team, identified and captured Armijos-Castillo aboard the bus traveling westbound on I-70. He was arrested without incident and taken to the Eagle County Jail, where he awaits extradition to Florida.
“The Colorado Violent Offender Task Force is committed to apprehending dangerous individuals like Armijos-Castillo, who are wanted for violent crimes, including murder,” stated the U.S. Marshals Service in a press release.
Armijos-Castillo will now face charges for the deadly home invasion in Florida, pending his extradition.
