A man was arrested by the anti-vehicle theft cell in Yamunanagar district for possessing four stolen motorcycles, police said on Monday. The accused has been identified as Munish Kumar, a resident of Jaidhar village.
According to officials, Rajesh Kumar, in-charge of the anti-vehicle theft cell, received a tip-off that Munish would be traveling to Uttar Pradesh via Kalanaur village to sell a stolen motorcycle. Acting swiftly, Rajesh Kumar formed a team comprising Sub-Inspector Gurmeet Singh, Dharmender, Yogesh, and Ravinder.
The team set up checkpoints (nakas) near Kalanaur village, which lies on the Haryana-Uttar Pradesh border, and began stopping vehicles for inspection.
During the operation, the team intercepted Munish Kumar and found one stolen motorcycle in his possession. Upon interrogation, Munish confessed and led the police to recover three more stolen motorcycles, bringing the total to four.
Police also revealed that Munish is a repeat offender, with three previous theft cases already registered against him.
Under the supervision of Superintendent of Police Surinder Singh Bhoria, the anti-vehicle theft cell has been actively cracking down on vehicle thefts in the district.
Munish Kumar was produced before the court in Jagadhri and has been sent to judicial custody.
