The Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) of Mumbai Police has arrested three individuals in separate operations, seizing approximately 3 kilograms of Mephedrone (MD) worth over Rs 6.5 crore.
In the first operation on September 3, the Kandivali Unit apprehended a suspect in the National Park area of Borivali with 1.297 kg of MD, valued at Rs 2.59 crore.
In a second case, the Azad Maidan Unit intercepted another accused at Sainath Road, recovering 184 grams of MD worth Rs 36.8 lakh.
Similarly, the Worli Unit seized 251 grams of MD during a patrol, valued at Rs 62.75 lakh. All three have been booked under the NDPS Act, and further investigations by the respective ANC units are ongoing.
Meanwhile, the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) arrested three more individuals for smuggling 40 kilograms of hydroponic weed, valued at Rs 40 crore. Acting on specific intelligence, DRI officials intercepted passengers arriving from Bangkok.
The seized contraband included 20 kgs each from Ameer Pampodan (Kerala) and Sohaib Khan (Delhi). Investigations revealed that a third person, Mohammed Madari, had arrived at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport to receive the delivery. All three were arrested under the NDPS Act.
Authorities stated that the seizures were part of ongoing efforts to curb narcotics trafficking and reaffirmed their commitment to building a drug-free society.
