The Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) of Mumbai police and the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) have conducted major drug busts, arresting a total of six individuals and seizing large quantities of narcotics worth over Rs 46 crore.
In three separate operations, ANC arrested three accused for possession and sale of Mephedrone (MD):
September 3 – Kandivali Unit: 1.297 kg of MD seized from an accused in the National Park area, Borivali, valued at Rs 2.59 crore.
Azad Maidan Unit: 184 grams of MD recovered during patrolling at Sainath Road, worth Rs 36.8 lakh.
Worli Unit: 251 grams of MD seized during patrol, valued at Rs 62.75 lakh.
All three have been booked under the NDPS Act, and investigations are ongoing. ANC officials stated these operations are part of a special campaign to curb narcotics and build a drug-free society.
The DRI arrested three persons — Ameer Pampodan (Kerala), Sohaib Khan (Delhi), and Mohammed Madari — for attempting to smuggle 40 kg of hydroponic weed worth Rs 40 crore.
Acting on intelligence, DRI officials intercepted passengers arriving from Bangkok, recovering 20 kg each from Pampodan and Khan. Madari, who was to receive the contraband at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, was also apprehended. All three accused have been charged under the NDPS Act.
Authorities continue to investigate the networks behind these narcotics operations and have assured strict action against all individuals involved.
