A businessman from Mulund has accused two individuals, Munnavar Azimkhan Pathan (64) and a woman identified only as Rajput, of cheating him of Rs68.34 lakh by promising a government tender for supplying automatic fire extinguisher machines. The Mulund Police have registered a case against the accused following a complaint by the victim.
Subramanian Tirur Krishnan, 57, who runs Globestar Enterprises, a television channel marketing business, alleged that Pathan introduced himself as the partner and marketing head of Taurus Enterprises, a company manufacturing Redmatic fire extinguisher machines. Pathan claimed he could secure tenders through the Public Works Department (PWD) across multiple districts.
Between June 2021 and June 2022, Krishnan transferred Rs46.04 lakh via bank and paid Rs22.30 lakh in cash to Pathan. He was also introduced to Rajput, said to be on the tender approval committee in New Delhi, who demanded Rs5 lakh for processing tender documents and facilitating a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
Despite the payments, no tender was secured, and the accused neither returned the money nor delivered on their promises. Realizing the fraud, Krishnan filed a complaint. The police have registered a case under Sections 420 (cheating) and 34 (common intention) of the IPC and are currently investigating.
