In a targeted anti-drug operation, Ernakulam Rural Police on Tuesday arrested two men from Perumbavoor and seized 3.5 grams of MDMA from their possession.
The arrested were identified as Muhammed Koya (29) and Ziyad (30), both residents of Perumbavoor. The seizure was made from a rented house where Koya was reportedly residing and storing the banned substance.
According to police, the duo was allegedly preparing to sell the contraband when the raid occurred. The arrests were the result of local intelligence inputs and surveillance conducted by law enforcement teams to curb the sale of synthetic drugs in the region.
The accused are in custody, and further investigation is underway to determine the source of the narcotics and whether more individuals are involved in the network.
