Dhantoli police have arrested 32-year-old Ashish Reddimalla, an MTech graduate from Chandrapur, in connection with multiple house break-ins across Nagpur. The arrest has led to the resolution of five burglary cases in Dhantoli, Ajni, and Sonegaon neighborhoods.

Reddimalla, a former IT employee based in the Mihan area, reportedly resorted to theft after accumulating gambling debts exceeding Rs23 lakh. Leveraging his technical skills and a calculated modus operandi, he travelled by bus from Chandrapur to Nagpur late at night, targeting homes after midnight. Using a metal rod, he broke open locked doors and fled back to Chandrapur before dawn.

The police breakthrough came after analyzing over 200 CCTV footage clips and following up on a crucial tip-off. During his arrest in Chandrapur, officers recovered stolen valuables worth Rs2.33 lakh, including jewellery and foreign currency.

This marks Reddimalla’s third known arrest related to theft offences. Police are investigating whether he had any accomplices or connections to other unsolved crimes.

Senior Inspector Anamika Mirzapure highlighted that Reddimalla’s professional demeanor allowed him to avoid suspicion, emphasizing the need for heightened community alertness. Investigations are ongoing.
