HENRY COUNTY, Va. — A mother and son were arrested Wednesday night after authorities said they were running a methamphetamine operation out of their Bassett home.
The arrests followed a long-running undercover investigation targeting drug activity in the area, according to the Henry County Sheriff’s Office.
William Servin and his mother, Rhonda Hutcherson, were taken into custody during raids of two mobile homes along Reed Creek Drive. Both were charged with possession of methamphetamine, and Servin faced an additional charge for distribution, Sheriff Wayne Davis said.
Sheriff Davis emphasized the office’s commitment to curbing narcotics in the community:
“If you’re gonna sell drugs, you better wear your pants,” he said, noting that illegal drug activity contributes to other crimes like violent offenses, larceny, shoplifting, and stolen vehicles.
Since July 2023, deputies have executed over 60 search warrants related to narcotics investigations in Henry County. Davis stressed that public awareness of arrests is crucial for maintaining community trust and deterring criminal activity:
“Every arrest, large or small, sends a clear message: Illegal drug activity will not be tolerated in Henry County.”
The sheriff added that the goal is to make drug dealers uncomfortable operating in the community, ensuring public safety and reducing crime linked to narcotics.
