Moshi Man Arrested for Stealing Gold and Silver Jewellery Worth Rs16.92 Lakh

In a shocking case of theft, the Pimpri Chinchwad crime branch arrested a 38-year-old man from Moshi for allegedly stealing gold and silver jewellery worth Rs16.92 lakh from the house of his relative. The theft occurred on March 31, but the crime came to light only on April 11 when the victim, Jagadish Telasinge (39), realized the jewellery was missing from his locker.

The incident was reported to the Bhosari MIDC police, who registered a complaint after Jagadish discovered the theft. The crime branch, under the guidance of Inspector Suhas Avhad, immediately began investigating the case. The team reviewed CCTV footage from the victim’s housing society and observed a suspicious figure leaving the premises. The person caught on tape was identified as Gangadhar Telasinge (38), a distant relative of the complainant.

Gangadhar was apprehended by the crime branch team from a BRTS bus stop near KBS Chowk, and the stolen jewellery was recovered from his possession. According to Avhad, Gangadhar and Jagadish had been childhood friends and were well-acquainted with each other. While Jagadish works as an engineer in a private company, Gangadhar is employed at a company in Pimpri Chinchwad.

On the day of the theft, when Jagadish was at work, Gangadhar reportedly used a spare key to enter the flat and steal the valuables. He then returned home, leaving no trace. The theft went unnoticed until April 11 when Jagadish decided to check his locker. Upon realizing the jewellery was missing, he filed a complaint, leading to the investigation.

Upon reviewing the CCTV footage, the police grew suspicious of Gangadhar’s actions as he was seen leaving the building at a time when he should have been at work. This led to his arrest and the recovery of the stolen items.
