In a major crackdown on cybercrime, Morigaon Police arrested five individuals involved in a widespread cyber fraud scheme during a coordinated raid on June 5 in the Bowalguri area under the Laharighat Police Station in Assam.
The operation led to the arrest of five suspects:

Abu Ayub Ansary (22)
Aslam Ahmed (29)
Nuruddin (22)
Aptarul Islam (28)
All hail from villages in the Laharighat region of Morigaon district.
The accused were found to have siphoned off more than Rs 10 lakh collectively, with individual fraud amounts ranging between Rs 1.10 lakh and Rs 3.50 lakh. Nuruddin is believed to be linked to the highest single fraud of Rs 3.50 lakh, followed by Aslam Ahmed, associated with scams worth Rs 2.50 lakh.
The police have verified their identities and formally arrested them. They are slated to appear in court today. Authorities are currently withholding details about their exact methods and the total number of victims involved as investigations are ongoing.
The case marks a significant breakthrough in the state’s efforts to clamp down on cybercriminal networks exploiting digital vulnerabilities.
