Georgia Gas Station Sale Turns Violent, Ends in Arrests

by Amelia Crawford

GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. – A prom dress sale at a gas station took a violent turn, ending with three women arrested on theft and battery charges.

Police say an 18-year-old victim agreed to meet her former friend, 20-year-old Morgan Flinchum, at a Gwinnett County gas station to sell a prom dress. The dress originally belonged to Flinchum, but the victim’s mother had helped pay for it.

Inside the store’s bathroom, Flinchum tried on the dress, but a third woman suddenly grabbed it and ran. When the victim chased after her, she was surrounded by three women. Her boyfriend arrived and retrieved the dress, but tensions escalated into a physical fight.

Surveillance footage showed one of the suspects choking the victim before the victim flipped her to the ground in self-defense, police said. Another altercation occurred while waiting for officers, with Flinchum allegedly swinging at the victim before being separated.

Flinchum and Leila DeJager were charged with battery and theft by taking, while Kaylee George was charged with theft by taking.

Gwinnett County police advised that in-person sales should occur at designated e-commerce parking locations at their precincts to avoid similar incidents.
