A 19-year-old man, Montreal Savontae Jackson Jr., has been arrested and charged with the murder of 9-year-old Antavious Scott following a shooting incident outside the South Point apartments.
The tragic event occurred on November 16, when police say Jackson fired shots into a group of people, hitting Scott. Upon arrival, officers found Scott injured and unresponsive, and they quickly began lifesaving efforts. The child was rushed to HCA Florida Kendall Hospital but was later pronounced dead.
Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office Homicide Bureau detectives, using investigative techniques, were able to identify and arrest Jackson. He is now facing charges of second-degree murder with a weapon for his involvement in the fatal shooting.
