Police in Hyderabad have solved the chilling murder of 40-year-old domestic worker Anju D.R., who went missing on May 12, 2025, from Kowkoor, Alwal.
Authorities arrested Monti Kumar Singh alias Monti Raj, 22, a driver from Jeedimetla, along with a minor girl, for allegedly murdering Anju and hiding her body inside the house.
Investigators said Monti had developed a relationship with the minor in December 2023, which Anju opposed due to the girl being underage. Despite previous POCSO Act cases filed against the duo, they allegedly continued the relationship and planned the murder when Anju tried to stop it.
On the day of the crime, Monti allegedly hid inside the house. When Anju returned home, he stabbed her while the minor restrained her. The victim died on the spot, after which the accused wrapped her body, hid it under a bed, and later buried it inside the house using cement and sand. They also destroyed her mobile phone and cleaned the crime scene to remove evidence.
Following Monti’s confession, police exhumed the body in the presence of officials, and post-mortem was conducted by doctors from Osmania General Hospital. The case was initially registered as a missing person complaint but was later upgraded to murder and evidence destruction under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Police also confirmed that Monti and the minor later married at Yadagirigutta temple in January 2026 and recently had a child. A knife suspected to be the murder weapon was seized.
The investigation was conducted under the supervision of Malkajgiri Zone DCP Ch. Sridhar and ACP Chakrapani, along with the Jawaharnagar Police Station team. Officers are expected to receive rewards for swiftly solving the case. Both accused have been produced before the court and sent to judicial remand.
