
BELMONT COUNTY, Ohio — Monta Harris, a 28-year-old man from Cleveland, was arrested on felony drug charges following a traffic stop conducted by the Belmont County Sheriff’s Criminal Interdiction Unit.
According to Sheriff James Zusack, Harris was stopped on Sept. 6 near Ohio Route 7 and the Moundsville Bridge for a minor traffic infraction. During the stop, officers conducted a search of the vehicle and discovered approximately one ounce of suspected cocaine.
Harris is now facing charges of cocaine trafficking and cocaine possession, and is currently being held in the Belmont County Jail. Authorities also noted that Harris is currently on federal probation.
The arrest was part of a broader investigation by the Ohio Organized Crime Investigations Commission, which supports regional efforts to curb drug trafficking and distribution.
