Mónica Cervera, 49, the Malaga-born actress known for her Goya-nominated role in Crimen Ferpecto and her appearance in the series La Que Se Avecina, has been arrested in Marbella. Cervera faces criminal charges for a property crime in connection with a complaint filed with the authorities.
Reports suggest that Cervera had been living on the streets of the Costa del Sol town for some time before her arrest by National Police officers. Following her detention, she was taken to court, where a judge ordered her remand in custody. Since then, she has been held in the women’s wing of Alhaurín de la Torre prison.
Cervera has had a notable career, starring in the multi-award-winning short film Hongos alongside Malaga director Ramón Salazar, as well as appearing in Piedras (Stones), which was selected for the Berlinale, and the musical 20 Centímetros, which won the critics’ prize at the Malaga Festival.
Her breakout role was in Crimen Ferpecto, a black comedy that earned her a Goya nomination in 2005. She later starred in Con Dos Tacones and had brief appearances in La Que Se Avecina between 2013 and 2016. However, her on-screen presence has diminished over the last decade.
