by Amelia Crawford

DAVIE, Fla. — Authorities arrested Mohmed Usuf Belim, 48, following a joint investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) Cargo Theft Task Force and the Davie Police Department Crime Reduction Unit, uncovering a major cargo theft and drug distribution operation.

The investigation focused on a business located at 5410 Reese Road, which reportedly served as a hub for stolen cargo sold at below-market rates. Law enforcement said the operation was linked to a theft ring known for stealing semi-trucks and trailers from unsecured lots.

According to detectives, the stolen cargo included:

40 Bosch refrigerators valued at $200,000, stolen July 28 in Orlando

A trailer loaded with Bath & Body Works merchandise worth $100,000, stolen August 16 in Fort Pierce

On September 4, police executed search warrants at two connected properties — a Kwik Stop convenience store and an adjacent warehouse, which shared a hidden passageway concealed behind a refrigerator.

Inside, officers found:

36 stolen refrigerators

Six pallets of Bath & Body Works products

$17,000 in cash

A large-scale drug operation

Narcotics recovered include:

4.8 kg of cocaine

19.2 kg of cannabis (approx. 42 lbs)

Ecstasy (7 pills)

Oxycodone (4 pills)

Equipment consistent with drug sales — including vacuum sealers, scales, and packaging materials — was also seized. Surveillance systems monitored the premises from a secure office inside the warehouse.

Belim, identified as the owner and sole occupant of the business, was taken into custody. Formal charges are pending.
