In a major operation, Gujarat Police, assisted by Jalandhar Police, arrested Mohammad Murtja Ali, a native of Bihar, for alleged involvement in cyber fraud on Friday morning from Bhargo Camp, Jalandhar.
Ali, who had been living in Jalandhar in a rented house, was caught with four mobile phones and three SIM cards, which he allegedly used to execute online frauds through a mobile application.
Police sources revealed that he was under surveillance for some time due to suspicious financial activity, including monthly transactions totaling ₹40 lakh and the purchase of a 25-marla plot worth approximately Rs1.5 crore, which he was in the process of developing.
While unverified reports suggest a possible link to Pakistan-based ISI, authorities stressed that this has not yet been confirmed. Police have seized his mobile devices and are scanning for any videos or photos linked to Operation Sindoor.
A preliminary investigation was underway prior to his arrest, according to Gujarat Police officials. His bank records and digital footprint are currently being analyzed to determine the extent of the fraud and any possible cross-border connections.
