In Naxalbari, a youth named Mohammad Irfan was arrested for attempting to purchase drugs during a police raid in Nehal Dayaram Jote. The raid was carried out by the Naxalbari police station after a tip-off about a drug-related activity.
During the operation, Irfan was apprehended, and 57 grams of brown sugar along with Rs40,200 in cash were recovered from him. However, the drug dealer managed to escape.
In a remarkable development, Arun Ghosh, the Sabhadhipati of Siliguri Mahakuma Parishad, participated in the raid. He emphasized the significance of community involvement in tackling drug-related issues and urged efforts for a drug-free society.
Irfan has been presented before the Siliguri Sub-Divisional Court, and investigations are ongoing.
