In a targeted operation on Friday, the Crime Branch of Indore police arrested a man with 12.87 grams of MD drugs, estimated to be worth Rs 1.3 lakh, near Gulmarg Complex, Sapna Sangeeta.
The accused, Mohammad Azeem, a resident of Sadar Bazaar and a graphic designer educated up to Class 12, was intercepted after attempting to evade the police during routine surveillance. Azeem was found sitting on a two-wheeler at a relatively isolated spot.
A detailed search revealed 12.87 grams of MD hidden inside the vehicle’s storage compartment. In addition to the drugs, authorities seized a mobile phone and the two-wheeler, bringing the total value of recovered items to approximately Rs 2.5 lakh.
During preliminary questioning, Azeem admitted procuring the contraband at lower rates and supplying it to drug users in Indore for profit. The police have registered a case under the NDPS Act at the Crime Branch police station.
Investigators are now working to trace the source of the narcotics and identify other individuals connected to the distribution network.
