Mohammad Afzal Khan Held with 1.15kg Charas in Baramulla

Police seize contraband during checkpoint operation

In a continuing effort to eliminate drug trafficking, police in Baramulla have arrested a drug peddler and seized 1.15 kilograms of a charas-like substance from his possession.

The arrest took place during a routine checkpoint near the HP Gas Agency in Drangbal. A police team from Baramulla Police Station intercepted a suspicious individual, later identified as Mohammad Afzal Khan, son of Ata Mohammed Khan, and a resident of Bimyaar Boniyar.

Upon conducting a search, officers recovered 1.15 kg of the banned substance. Khan was immediately taken into custody.

A case has been registered at Police Station Baramulla under FIR No. 63/2025, and an investigation is underway under the relevant sections of law.

Police have appealed to the public to report any suspicious activity related to drugs by contacting the nearest police station or dialing 112. Authorities reaffirmed their commitment to taking strict legal action against drug offenders and working with the community to eradicate this growing menace.
