In a major breakthrough, Miyapur Police Station has arrested Vadde Katamayya (24), a resident of Anantapur, involved in ATM cash thefts using technical devices. The arrest was made after timely action based on a tip-off from a local resident.

Katamayya was caught red-handed attempting to steal cash from an ATM in Marthanda Nagar, Hafeezpet, ending a series of theft attempts in the area. Investigations revealed that he had learned ATM cash theft techniques online and specifically targeted ATMs of a private company, using specialized tools to tamper with the machines.

According to police officials, Katamayya had been involved in multiple ATM theft attempts since October 2025, attempting to steal cash from several locations.

The arrest was prompted by local resident Balu Naik, who noticed suspicious activity near the ATM and called 100 to alert the authorities. Miyapur police arrived swiftly and apprehended Katamayya on the spot.

However, his associate, Ramanjaneyulu, managed to flee and remains absconding. Police continue their search and are investigating other potential thefts linked to the duo.
