JONES COUNTY, Miss. (WDAM/Gray News) – A Mississippi woman is facing serious charges after authorities say she fraudulently obtained over $70,000 in SNAP benefits.

According to investigators with the Mississippi Department of Human Services (MDHS), 44-year-old Yadera Cabellero failed to accurately report both her household income and household composition when applying for government assistance.

As a result of the alleged false information, Cabellero received more than $70,000 in Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits she was not eligible for.

She was arrested on July 10 by deputies with the Jones County Sheriff’s Department. Cabellero was booked into the Jones County Adult Detention Center and bonded out the following day, on July 11.

Authorities have not yet released details on upcoming court proceedings. The investigation remains ongoing, and additional charges may be considered.
