PASCAGOULA, Miss. – A Mississippi man is in custody after allegedly killing his parents inside their Pascagoula home on March 5.
Police Standoff Ends in Arrest
Officers responded to a double homicide at a residence on Krebs Avenue around 3:30 p.m.
Darold Payne, the couple’s son, barricaded himself inside the home upon police arrival.
After failed negotiation attempts, tear gas was deployed, and Payne was taken into custody without further incident.
Victims Identified
The Jackson County coroner identified the victims as Harold Payne, 86, and Jittuan Payne, 72.
They died from blunt force trauma, according to investigators.
Authorities have not yet released a motive for the killings. Payne remains in custody as the investigation continues.
