DUNBAR, W.Va. — Miranda McVay, 41, and Carleton Raines, 47, both of Dunbar, have been arrested and charged with child neglect after police found drugs and a firearm near children in their apartment.

Officers responded Tuesday to a domestic disturbance call at a Lightner Avenue apartment. Upon arrival, methamphetamine, marijuana, and other illegal drug paraphernalia were discovered within reach of the children inside the home.

In addition to child neglect charges, Raines faces an extra charge for being a felon in possession of a firearm. Police found his gun inside a dresser in the bedroom.

Both McVay and Raines are currently held at the South Central Regional Jail pending further legal proceedings.
