A 17-year-old boy was stabbed in a Midlothian park Wednesday night, prompting police to arrest 18-year-old Christopher Robert Nienhuis of Midlothian.
The incident occurred just before 9 p.m. near the baseball fields parking lot on 14th Street. Witnesses reported a heated argument between Nienhuis and the victim, 17-year-old Dylan Almanza from Ennis, which escalated into violence.
Nienhuis allegedly stabbed Almanza during the confrontation. Friends immediately rushed the injured teenager to a nearby hospital. Due to the severity of his injuries, Almanza was transferred to Methodist Mansfield Medical Center, where he underwent surgery. Authorities reported that he remains in serious but stable condition as of Thursday evening.
Midlothian police arrested Nienhuis at his home early Thursday morning around 5:15 a.m. He faces two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon causing serious bodily injury, along with one count of assault causing bodily injury. The investigation is ongoing.
