Mickey Riggins, Tyshawun Herring Charged in Armed Robbery

HORRY COUNTY, S.C. – Two men have been arrested in connection with a May armed robbery in Horry County, where a victim was held at gunpoint and robbed of two chains worth $9,500, according to police reports obtained by ABC 15.

Mickey Dewayne Riggins, 19, of Tabor City, has been charged with armed robbery and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. Tyshawun Herring, 25, of Green Sea, is also charged with armed robbery, based on jail booking records.

The incident took place on May 28 on Kingcrest Drive. Officers responded to the scene for a reported shooting, but later learned it stemmed from a prior armed robbery. The victim told officers he was lying in bed when an unidentified individual entered and said he was about to lie down. Shortly afterward, Riggins and Herring entered the room, with Riggins pointing a gun at the victim and Herring wearing a mask.

Riggins reportedly demanded the victim to “give that shit up,” and during the confrontation, the suspects took two gold chains. The report stated both men called for a third, unidentified suspect to join them.

Riggins was arrested on Monday in Longs by the U.S. Marshals Carolinas Regional Fugitive Task Force and is currently being held at the J. Reuben Long Detention Center on $85,000 bond. Herring was arrested the previous Wednesday and is also held at the same facility under a $20,000 bond.

Police say the investigation is ongoing.
