The Livingston County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Grand Rivers woman on Thursday, Sept. 18, following the discovery of multiple deceased animals during a search of her property.
Deputies executed a search warrant at a residence on East Tennessee Street in Grand Rivers. During the operation, authorities found nine dead dogs on the property. One surviving dog was rescued and turned over to animal control for care.
Michelle Godwin, 43, was taken into custody at the scene. She has been charged with nine counts of torture of a dog or cat.
Deputy Zackary Dunigan is leading the ongoing investigation. Further details may be released as the case develops.
