Michel and Omar Mendez Arrested for Credit Card Fraud in West Monroe

Two suspects booked for using fraudulent cards in "skimming" scheme

WEST MONROE, La. (KTVE/KARD) – On Tuesday, May 6, 2025, the West Monroe Police Department (WMPD) responded to a follow-up investigation at 201 Mane Street regarding two suspects involved in stealing merchandise with fraudulent credit cards.

Upon arrival, officers identified the suspects as Michel Mendez and Omar Mendez. The pair were linked to a series of thefts where they used counterfeit cards to make unauthorized purchases.

Further investigation revealed that the victims of the fraud had reported the thefts to WMPD, suspecting they had fallen victim to a “skimming” scheme. Skimming involves illegally capturing card information to use in fraudulent transactions.

Michel and Omar Mendez were booked into the Ouachita Correctional Center on charges related to the Anti-Skimming Act and Criminal Conspiracy, with a combined bond set at $105,000.
