Irvine, Calif. (August 20, 2025) — The Irvine Police Department (IPD) has arrested Michael Robert Maxwell, 42, of Irvine, on charges of sexually assaulting a minor over a period of ten years.
The investigation began on August 15, 2025, when IPD, in partnership with Child Protective Services, launched an inquiry into allegations of sexual assault at a residence on Whitecloud.
The teenage female victim reported that Maxwell sexually assaulted her multiple times over a decade. Maxwell was arrested and booked into the Orange County Jail on charges including:
Oral copulation
Unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor
Sexual penetration with a foreign object
Lewd or lascivious acts with a child
Continuous sexual abuse of a child
Maxwell was a prominent staff member at the Redeemer Church of Orange County in Newport Beach. Authorities have released Maxwell’s photo and are urging anyone with additional information or potential victims to come forward.
