Michael Riley Arrested in Connection with Spain Bar Double Murder
Michael Riley, 44, has been arrested in Liverpool under an international arrest warrant in connection with the shooting deaths of two Scottish men in Spain, both of whom were linked to the Lyons organised crime group.
The victims, Ross Monaghan, 43, and Eddie Lyons Jr, 46, were gunned down on 31 May at Monaghan’s Bar in Fuengirola, a popular coastal town on Spain’s Costa del Sol.
Both men were known associates of the Lyons family, a Glasgow-based criminal network long involved in Scotland’s gangland conflicts.
Merseyside Police confirmed that Riley was taken into custody and brought before Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Saturday morning, where he was remanded in custody pending further proceedings.
Spanish authorities had issued an international warrant for Riley’s arrest, and extradition proceedings are expected to follow.
This high-profile arrest follows weeks of international cooperation between UK and Spanish law enforcement agencies, targeting transnational organised crime.
