UTICA — A man was arrested on multiple drug-related charges after authorities executed a search warrant at his apartment in Kennedy Plaza, the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office reported.

On April 8, investigators searched Apartment 711 at 2 Kennedy Plaza, where they found over 28 grams of cocaine, along with packaging materials and digital scales.

The suspect, Michael J. Griggs, is alleged to have been distributing cocaine from the high-rise apartment building. Sheriff Robert M. Maciol confirmed that the investigation led authorities to believe Griggs was actively selling narcotics from the residence.

Griggs was charged with:

Two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree (B felonies) – one for possession with intent to sell, the other for possession over a certain weight.

Criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree (A misdemeanor).

Two counts of criminally using drug paraphernalia in the second degree (A misdemeanors).

The operation was carried out by the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit, with support from the Utica Police Department Special Investigations Unit, the Forensic ID Unit, OCSO Road Patrol, Utica Police Patrol Division, and the Utica GIVE Unit.

Authorities say additional charges may still be pending as the investigation continues.
