BURRLL, Pa. — Burrell High School boys’ basketball coach Michael Fantuzzo has been arrested in Montgomery County on multiple felony counts of embezzlement, accused of stealing nearly $246,000 from a Philadelphia-area nonprofit.

The Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office said Fantuzzo misappropriated funds from the Pennsylvania Occupational Therapy Association, where he served as treasurer, between May 2021 and September 2025.

Authorities allege Fantuzzo used the nonprofit’s money for personal expenses, including a Disney World family trip, Outer Banks vacation rental, country club fees, limousine service, a hot tub installation at his home, and payment of local and state property taxes.

The missing funds were discovered after a new board of directors reviewed the organization’s finances. Fantuzzo voluntarily turned himself in last week and is scheduled for a preliminary hearing next week.

The Burrell boys’ basketball team is set to face Belle Vernon Area Friday in the WPIAL 4A Playoffs. KDKA has reached out to the Burrell School District and athletic department for comment.
